In 2018, RCDP is returning to its roots: grassroots. We are organizing to engage Democratic voters and to increase turn-out for elections. High turn-out in Richland County is key to winning statewide races. Our plan has three parts.
The Most Ambitious Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) Effort in RCDP History
Traditionally GOTV work has been left until a few weeks leading up to the election. But recruiting volunteers for a large scale GOTV initiative requires long-term infrastructure building. RCDP began recruiting GOTV volunteers through events and canvassing shortly after the 2016 election. We have already signed up over 500 GOTV volunteers.
A Massive County-Wide Voter Registration Drive
No more playing the hand we are dealt. We need to register new voters so that the voters are more representative of the people. Richland County is an ideal place for voter registration. In 2016, 62% of voters in Richland County, cast a ballot for Hillary Clinton. If Richland County were its own state, it would be more Democratic than Massachusetts!
Building an Enduring Party
RCDP is committed to organizing and engaging voters all year, every year, not just at election time. Year round organizing is critical to building and maintaining the infrastructure to win elections. It is also important to maintaining a strong relationship between voters and their elected officials.
