Education Forum | History of Women’s Reproductive Health & Rights @ Adult Activity Center

Consider the current debate on women’s reproductive rights, Richland Democratic Women’s Council has joined with NOW (National Organization for Women) – Columbia to sponsor an education forum regarding the history of women’s reproductive health and rights.

Dr. Gere Fulton will lead the discussion by sharing a presentation he has given around the state with the latest being our friends at Northeast Dems.

The presentation has been described as dynamic, enlightening and informative.

Dr. Fulton has a Ph.D. and a J.D., and most recently taught at the USC School of Medicine. He has served as President on the Board(s) of Directors for Planned Parenthood of Trenton, NJ and Planned Parenthood of Northwest Ohio.

Our goal is to provide unbiased information and facts on the issue, no matter where you stand.

Gerrymandering Updates
Discussion and
Strategic Plan

Gerrymandering significantly skews voting outcomes in states throughout the U.S. (See the information provided at https://democraticredistricting.com/ for examples.) In addition, a recent Supreme Court decision places the responsibility to end gerrymandering at the state level. Therefore, it is critical that we at the local level strive to ensure fair voting practices occur within South Carolina. Join in the discussion to be a part of a solution to gerrymandering in our state.

The Communications Committee oversees a communications network that raises public awareness of the party, its activities, values, legislative agenda and elected officials. The communications network includes various media: email, the RCDP newsletter, traditional journalism (print and digital), and social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).

Members should have an interest or experience in at least one of the following: (a) journalism; (b) marketing and communications strategy; (c) using social media; (d) video production or editing; (e) graphic design; (f) layout and production software.

Northeast Democrats of Richland County @ The Woodlands Golf and Country Club

June 8th meeting features a debate between the two candidates for the chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP). Our current chair, Trav Robertson from Anderson will be challenged by Adam White of Charleston. The election will take place at the SCDP state convention on June 22 in Columbia. The person elected will lead the SCDP for the next two years.

This caucus meets on the second Saturday of the month.

A $12 Buffet-style breakfast is available during the meeting.
