Councilwoman Gretchen Barron

Join Councilwoman Gretchen Barron and community partners as they participate in the First Annual District 7 Community Walk at W.J. Keenan High School on June 4th. Along with community partners, Councilwoman Barron is working to overcome health disparities in the 29203 zip codes. The right to access quality health care, fresh fruits and vegetables, affordable housing, and employment play a key role in health inequities.

As an annual event, the day will begin with a two-mile walk and conclude with a community health fair. While the community health fair is for all participants, it will especially afford medically underserved families the opportunity to receive free health screenings (i.e., diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI, etc.,). COVID-19 testing/vaccines, cooking demonstrations, and community resources will also be available.

Registration is not required but encouraged.

Community partners include: Richland County Government, Richland County Sheriff Department, Lexington Medical Center, PRISMA Health, Zumba by Michelle J
